c8a AIDS 3-hours $35.00 The Goal of this 3-hour course is To explore how Working with people Living with AIDS offers a variety of challenges and solutions for health care providers. The student will be able to discuss medical reality of HIV/AIDS. The student will be able to explain 3 Alternative Healing Approaches. The participant will be able to describe 4 common Women's and Children's issues. Participants will be able to identify Legal and Ethical Concerns for the Provider and the one living with AIDS. The student will be able to discuss various grief issues for the one living with AIDS, the family of origin and extended family members.
c10a - Treating Sexual Addiction 3-hours $35.00 The overall goal is to present the underlying causes of sexually addictive behaviors and discuss treatment strategies for recovery. To end the stigma and shame associated with sexually addictive behaviors. Participants will be able to describe the 3 levels of sexual addiction. Participants will be able to construct an initial treatment plan for the sexual addict. Participants will be able to discuss 3 treatment strategies. c16a - Domestic Violence Victim 3-hours $35.00 The Goal of this course is to educate professionals working in the field of health care about the impact and treatment of victims of domestic violence. Michael addresses ethics as a guide for these professionals to establish healthy relationships with their clients, agencies and community. The focus is on boundaries, the role of the helper, the right use of power, and client sensitivity. He will review a process to help professionals make ethically correct decisions regarding their behavior with the client. c24a Drugs and the Brain 2-hours $30.00 The goal of this course is to show very specifically with how drugs reach and interact with the brain and other body parts. Differentiate between depressants and stimulants. Discuss the destructive power of nicotine, tobacco and smoking. Demonstrate the physical aspects of addiction and speak directly to the disease concept.c28 Hepatitis C, AIDS, STD's training 6-hours $60.00 To educate participants about the physical and psychological problems occurring among patients suffering from AIDS, HIV, TB, Hepatitis B & C.The student will be able to identify physical and psychological symptoms of individuals who suffer from HIV, AIDS, TB, including multi-drug resistant TB, syphilis, and hepatitis B & C. The students will have the opportunity to be more sensitive to patients entering treatment programs who are at risk of having one or more of these diseases. The focus is on these particular infectious diseased because they occur frequently among treatment populations and have significant medical and socioeconomic consequences for infected persons and others if not recognized and treated. c44 Substance Abuse treatment with adolescents 6-hours $60.00 This 6 hour course deals with the problems of adolescent chemical dependency users. We address patterns of use, coexisting disorders, effects on the family, 12 step and other helpful models for treatment. c45 New Approaches to Relapse Prevention 12-hours 90.00 In this 12 hour course you will be exposed to various brief therapy approaches that work well to help clients prevent relapse. Relapse does not have to be apart of addiction or co-dependency recovery. This course covers a variety of strategies like Behavioral Therapy techniques, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, how to manage high-risk situations and leisure time activities. A great course for those seeking additional models to prevent relapse. c47 Motivational Interviewing/Enhancement 15-hours $100.00 Here we cover Motivational Interviewing and the Stages of Change. We will address the catalysis for change and typical cognitive-experiential processes used early in the cycle. There will be information relating to eliciting self-motivational statements and other strategies to motivate client to recovery. Emphasis will be on personal choice and responsibility. c50 Group Therapy 15-hours $100.00 This exciting 15-hour course looks at the advantages of group therapy in dealing with substance abuse and other addictive disorders. We will look at 5 typical group models found it the addiction field. There will be discussion about client readiness for group, placement considerations and stages of recovery as well. |
